The Department of New Mexico received their charter on September 3, 1934 followed by the Department's Ladies Auxiliary charter on March 15, 1944.
As of May 1, 2012 the Department's membership totaled 10,979 members and the Ladies Auxiliary membership totaled 3,638.

The Department has forty three Posts which are divided into eight Districts.
The Ladies Auxiliary has thirty two Auxiliaries throughout the eight Districts.
